upgraded earlier this year in a big way, with owners of the 13-inch 2016 MacBook Pro expressing their dissatisfaction with a background load issue in their machines. The problem caused a "scene lighting" effect on affected models, a clear problem with the cables under the hood.
Apple obviously asked to solve the problem of longer cables earlier this year in newer models. However, the 13-inch 2016 MacBook Pro was plagued by the problem for many owners, so Apple aims to relieve some of the pressure and offer free repairs. You must have a qualified model to get free scene light repair and only two MacBook Pro models are covered:
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 port) 19659006] MacBook Pro (13-inch , 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
Apple says on the official landing page of the new Display Backlight Service Program, as a "very small percentage" of 13-inch MacBook Pro models from 2016 are affected by the problem. The company also notes that "no other Mac notebook models are part of this program."
If the model shows symptoms, they look like this:
- Show the backlight continuously or intermittently, showing vertical bright areas along the entire bottom of the screen
- Screen lighting stops working completely
Apple says affected models were sold between October 2016 and February 2018. So if you bought your 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro during that time, and you also suffer from screen issues, you might want to make an appointment with an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider to have it checked out and repaired if needed.
When it comes to these repair programs, Apple is usually in a fixed "better" late than never "scenario. It's good that Apple finally offers free fixes for the problem, which can definitely be a big problem for any owner, especially when the display lighting Just stop working altogether.
In related news, Apple also expanded its keyboard service today and now includes the 2018 MacBook Pro series, the 2018 MacBook Air and the latest MacBook Pro models.
