2020 iMac screen failure may be due to Radeon GPU

Some 2020 iMac owners experience a screen error where random lines appear on the screen.

The 27-inch model can be equipped with the latest 5700 XT Radeon Pro which has 16 GB of GDD66 memory. In the App Support forum, users claim that their computer will cause lines to form. They then thought it was because of the heat generated by many open workflows; however, this was not the case.

The culprit, it seems, came from the 5700 XT graphics card. Overall, the computer can continue to function and is completely unaffected by the error. It is not yet clear how many users are affected, or whether it only appears in the highest configuration model of the iMac 2020.

The software problem will most likely be solved with an update from AMD, the manufacturer of the graphics card or Apple with the operating software. Hopefully the update can be done as soon as possible before more users experience it.
