Over the past two years, Apple's AirPods, even though they became mocket relentlessly when they were originally introduced, have become popular. And although this may be a bit of a stretch, some have also argued that Apple's wireless earbuds have become something of a status symbol attached to the original white earplugs supplied with the iPod back in the day.
That said, rumors of a next-generation version of Apple's AirPods have swirled for months, with the latest indication that we will see AirPods 2 hit store shelves once before June this year. Functional, AirPods 2 will eventually have a noise interrupt function, improved water resistance, and last but not least, support for hands-free "Hey Siri" functionality.
In addition, some new rumors about the next generation AirPods discovered earlier this week via Economic Daily News . In particular, the relay report states that AirPods 2 will launch with AirPower, Apple's long delayed wireless charging pad. In addition, the report claims that AirPods 2 will have a new exterior coating for enhanced "grip" and a brand new black color scheme.
In terms of price, AirPods 2 is allegedly priced the same as the first incarnation. However, it is unclear whether Apple will continue to sell the original AirPods at a discount or stop them altogether.
We have also seen rumors that Apple has been working on a version of AirPods with a brand new design. While exciting, subsequent reports have suggested that AirPods will not see a new redesign until 2020.
