Apple's instructions for creating an APNS certificate are quite incomplete. I've done this before, creating a CSR using Key Chain tools, uploading it to the dev console to generate the certificate, then hosting aps.cer which is the wrong format file for virtually every alert service out there. They will all have a PEM file.
Fine. Bit of googleage and I perform
openssl x509 -in aps.cer -inform there -out aps.pem
And then I go to test it with …
openssl s_client-connect gateway.sandbox.push.apple.com:2195 -cert aps.pem
cannot load private key file for client certificate
I do not remember having to generate my own private key using Urban Airship earlier (which I do not use now), nor the push service my client has chosen, nor does Apple have any kind of guidance on exactly where I am going Keep my private key, I'll come up with one.
Can I buy a clue? Have dicking around occasionally with this shit for a week. No one has been able to give concise, complete, proper instructions on this process anywhere.
