Getting a full cost on Lume Cube Air took just over an hour. There is a micro USB charging port behind a locked door on the small cube; That door prevents water from leaking into the gate. When charged, the Lume Cube Air can run for up to two and a half hours at 50% brightness or 30 to 45 minutes at full brightness. The app keeps track of the remaining battery life.
It seems that Cube Air did not have the optical sensor function of the original and cheaper Cube, because I could not find any of the modes shown on screen images of the app when used with a Lume Cube. These include "Optical Shutter Mode", which allows the original cube to act as a slave flash for the flash of a camera or smartphone.
The app changes Cube Air through flash mode, constant mode (used for constant flash for video) and two strobe modes. These strobe modes can be used to get attention cycle light.
I'm quite pleased with the Lume Cube Air as fill-in and flash, especially for portraits. The new magnetic backrest of Cube Air provides a lot of flexibility in how to set the light for handsfree use, and the diffusers are useful for adjusting the color of the color ̵
