App Store Connect, formerly called iTunes Connect, is Apple's control hub for apps. Everything that affects an app, from metadata to metrics, can be found here. As such, it's important to understand how App Store Connect works, especially when it comes to deploying an app's App Store Optimization.
App Store Connect overview
After you sign in to App Store Connect, you get four
- My Apps
- App Analytics
- Sales and Trends
- Users and Access
- Resources and Help
Although these seem obvious at first glance, each
important tools for managing your app.
Here is an overview of some of the important areas of the portal and how
they apply to an ASO strategy.
App Store Data
From the "My Apps" page, check the information about
their apps in the App Store. This is where you declare and update keywords,
title, category and so on. The information you add here should follow the best
practice for titles, subtitles
to ensure proper App Store Optimization.
Along with app information, you can also manage prices
and availability. This includes which ones
territories app is available in and if available at reduced price
for educational institutions. This is also where you add promotional artwork
for your app, in case it appears in the App Store.

screens and how they look on different device screens. The information here
contains more than just keywords and descriptions, which the page has spaces for
support and marketing URLs, copyright information, contact information and
It is important to note that you must release a new one

contains crash information so you can see if your app is experiencing any
new errors you want to address. Identifying and resolving errors quickly can be
valuable for retaining users and avoiding negative reviews.
Similarly, the "Sales and Trends" section provides insight
on your downloads, but delve deeper into your sales with sites too
subscriptions, app units, sales, revenue, and pre-orders.
Users and permission
Many apps require teams of people working together to
monitor, edit and troubleshoot. As such, App Store Connect enables developers
to give more users access to specific areas of App Store Connect
console for all apps in a portfolio or limit it to individual apps.
This is done through the "Users and Access" section of the app
Store Connect. From that page, you can add new users by clicking the + button
near the top of the screen. When you add someone, you can offer roles or teams
terms such as Marketing, Finance, Admin and so on. This gives each
individual separate access and control permissions so that they can perform theirs
Allowing members of your team permits them to complete
tasks relevant to their roles on App Store Connect. For example, your customer
support teams must be able to access user reviews, look at accounts
and so on to do their job properly, while designers or marketers will need
to view and edit the app's information to update creative sets.
