Patrick McGee, a reporter for the Financial Times, tweeted yesterday’s hearing for the Epic v. Apple case in a long thread that is well worth reading if you are interested in the case.
Highlights have been drawn elsewhere, including from Kyle Orland at Ars Technica, but the result seems to be that while solid arguments were made on both sides, Epic definitely took the weight of the referee’s attention yesterday.
A written decision is likely to be made in the next few days, with the next step as a trial in 2021. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers also suggested that the trial may involve a jury, which adds a further dimension to the case. If Epic and Apple do not come to some kind of understanding from time to time – not very likely, given the last shots – we have to tune in next summer to see what happens.
