"At least from a technical analysis perspective, Apple's stock is ready to laugh at the face of President Donald Trump's furious trade war with China," writes Brian Sozzi for Yahoo Finance.
"Apple's stock has formed what traders call a" gold cross "chart pattern. The formation – usually a bullish signal – happens when a short-term moving average crosses a longer-term moving average," writes Sozzi. "It is interesting that the shares have made this pattern reflect the fundamental risk of Apple's business model from the now increased US-China trade war."
"If it's quieter [on the trade front] (which can be a big" if "), the upside could be quite light for this Apple, [Miller Tabak strategist Matt] Maley says," writes Sozzi. "Given the basic issues surrounding the stock, investors should keep tight stops at any new, long position in Apple, but if history is a guide, it can rally pretty much from today's levels," added Maley. "
