US Patent and Trademark Office has approved several patents for Apple Inc., including a possible future folding screen and a smart keyboard portfolio for the iPad.
The technology giant sent in the 2018 patent "Single and Multi-fold forms for future iDevices", related to devices that have flexible or flexible sections. Designs outline a cover and display layer that can bend or fold, with the flexible material possibly made of ceramics such as sapphire, zirconium or reinforced glass. The cover layer provides structural support in both collapsible and non-collapsible areas.
In 2012, Apple filed a patent application for smart connectors and silent keyboards for its iPad devices, giving the idea of Smart Keyboard to fulfill. Noticeable form factors and improvements in the patent include an additional trackpad and a designated space at the top of the Apple Pencil input keyboard.
Patent shows quick sketches of which companies are working on, as seen at Patently Apple and can still change. We just have to wait for official announcements from Apple on future updates and device features.
