Apple gives iPhone 12 an exciting, unexpected new upgrade – BGR

  • The iPhone 12 series will feature a new design, as well as several new hardware enhancements, according to recent rumors.
  • One of the notable iPhone 12 changes concerns accessories that Apple will include with the new handsets.
  • The iPhone 12 may not get a free charger or EarPods, but Apple will provide a welcome upgrade to the charging cable, addressing durability issues that affected previous cables.

The upcoming iPhone 12 series will have a completely new design – the first since the arrival of the iPhone X three years ago. The iPhone 12 will also be the first series of Apple smartphones to support 5G connectivity, which may be part of the reason why a redesign is needed. Apple needs to push a 5G modem and a new 5G antenna inside the thin chassis without compromising on the size of the battery in the process. Having flat sides instead of rounded edges can also help your phone̵

7;s durability, not to mention that some users have simply grown tired of today’s iPhone design.

The new iPhone series will deliver other notable first-time photos. All four models will have OLED screens, as Apple ditches LCD screens, and the iPhone 12 comes in four versions, including a more compact 5.4-inch model. All phones will be powered by the same next-generation A14 Bionic processor that Apple unveiled during the iPad Air presentation last week, and the Pro phones will get the LiDAR sensor for the iPad Pro 2020. This will also be the first iPhone generation to be shipped without charger and free EarPods in the box. The more expensive 5G components may partly explain Apple’s decision. But Apple also wants to reduce waste with its products and prepare users for a truly wireless future. This is where one of the most exciting iPhone 12 features comes in – a feature I’ve been waiting for years to see.

I have been buying extra charging cables for the iPhone for many years, and not just for myself. I have done the same for other family members, and that is usually the same reason why the charging cable needs to be replaced. The plastic fell off or broke to the point where it does not work or it is not advisable to use it. But a couple of years ago, I decided I had enough of it, and switched to wicker cables that started popping up everywhere in stores, hoping they would last much longer than the plastic ones. It turns out that it was a great investment, as the braided cables are much more elastic than the iPhone cables that come with the iPhone.

I secretly hoped that Apple would solve this problem in the future and replace the plastic charging cables with braided cables. Increasing the durability of this important iPhone accessory is not just a decision that promotes Apple’s eco-friendly agenda. It is also much safer for users, especially loyal iPhone customers who are already used to dealing with broken cables. Not to mention that this is also good news for the smartphone budget, as you will spend less on cables if the standard duration lasts longer.

A rumor said a few months ago that the Lightning-to-USB-C cable that comes in the iPhone 12 box will not be made of plastic. Apple will reportedly go for braided cables, rumor has it. Fast forward to mid-September, and a series of photos appeared online, showing the alleged Apple team accessories.

It is unclear where the images come from. And we can look at an accessory made by a third party. Getting a braided charging cable in the iPhone 12 is still a sweet prospect, one that many iPhone users will appreciate.

Apple will certainly address the contents of the iPhone 12 box during the media event next month, and then we will learn whether these rumors were accurate or not. The latest rumors say that the iPhone 12 series will be unveiled on October 13, but Apple has not yet announced the virtual press conference.
