Apple hires a top Hollywood Insider for Apple TV + with a solid background in partnership development, advertising and more

Apple continues its hiring process with top insiders in the Hollywood industry by hiring Tim Connolly with a simple title “Video Business”. Connolly spent 1 year with Quibi where he was “Head of Partnerships & Advertising” and worked with Jeffrey Katzenberg founder and board chairman. Connolly also worked for 4 years in Hulu as SVP, Head of Partnerships & Distribution where he led subscriber acquisitions with partners Apple, Amazon, Spotify and Sprint. Connolly also worked for 7 years as VP Digital Distribution and New Product Development at The Walt Disney Company.

Earlier in his career, Connolly worked with Ericsson as a GM for mobile applications. Connolly should fit in well with Apple TV +, which is not even a year old, and to be sure, his official title will change over time to reflect his new position beyond the generic “Video Business”

Over on the UK Telegraph, they add that Apple “seeks to improve demand for other channels they sell through its TV app. Apple offers access to alternative video providers, such as Britbox and Hallmark Movies, for an additional fee, but HBO, one of the most well-known channels, recently stopped selling through the Apple TV app.

Apple began selling combined access to two channels – CBS All Access and Showtime – for a discount last month, a possible step towards selling a broader “package” of channels. His LinkedIn account shows that he works out of the “Greater Los Angeles Area.”
