When Apple first launched the 3D Touch feature in its iPhone 6s, it was no less than a company for the company. iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were the most popular devices of the iPhone 6. But now the company plans to eliminate its 3D Touch feature from 2019 iPhones.
It has been four years since iPhone owners used the touch-sensitive feature. And now, according to a research note from Barclays analysts (shared with MacRumors), it is confirmed that 3D Touch "will be eliminated" from all 2019 iPhones. Interestingly, Barclays analysts predicted this back in August 2018.
Barclays analysts claim: The 3D Touch will be eliminated from all 2019 iPhones
Barclays experts have specifically collected this information from Apple vendors during a trip to Asia earlier May 201
Apart from Barclays analysts, the Wall Street Journal had also predicted it in January. Thus, the prediction seems to be a rumor.
Owners of the iPhone XR must have experienced the Haptic Touch, as 3D Touch has already been replaced on this low cost unit.
Haptic Touch takes a toll on 3D Touch to give users an edge to edge LCD on the device. Analysts believe this feature will be available on all 2019 iPhones. Haptic Touch is a long press and vibration.
If you ask why Apple wants to waste 3D Touch from future iPhones, there is no clue. Apple can successfully include this feature in borderless OLED displays.
When comparing the Haptic Touch on the iPhone XR with 3D Touch, you can see that it works earlier in less places than the 3D Touch. This includes flashlight and camera shortcuts on the IOS lock screen, in the control center to check hidden bills, and to expand alerts.
Haptic touch has a limitation in Quick Actions app menus or Peek and Pop for previewing content.
Wrapping up …
iPhone loyalists will surely notice the absence of 3D Touch on future devices. The Quick Actions menu is one of the most commonly used features on 3D Touch enabled devices. Apple believes, however, that 3D Touch has always been a blue eye boy of pro users.
