Apple Music subscribers want a new way to listen to music soon. Amazon announced that Apple Music will be available on echo devices next month, starting week 17th of December.
"We are committed to providing good music vendors to our customers and since we launched the Music Skill API for developers just last month, expanded the selection of Alexa to include even more top levels," said Amazon Devices Senior Vice President David Limp in statement. "We are thrilled to bring Apple Music one of America's most popular music services to echo customers this holiday."
When the feature rolls out, users can ask Alexa on echo devices to play songs, performers and albums from Apple Music after pairing their account with the Alexa mobile app. Subscribers may also request Alexa to play curated playlists and radio stations, including Apple's Beats 1
Apple Music subscribers can play music on echo devices before , but just by pairing the smartphone or tablet to their Echo device via Bluetooth. These mobile devices controlled playback and no Alexa voice commands were relevant. But with the n ye integration, subscribers will be able to ask Alexa to play the tracks they want instead of turning to their mobile devices.
Echo devices already have the ability to play music from Amazon's own music streaming service, as well as Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn and others. Apple Music was the biggest publisher, with over 50 million paid and free trial listeners. Adding this feature to Echo devices can help Apple Music subscribers join Amazon's smart home theater.
It also helps Apple: Echo devices are significantly cheaper than the company's own $ 350 HomePod, which currently only plays Apple Music tracks. Easier ways to listen to music throughout the home can encourage users to give Apple Music free trial a spin or even subscribe to the service. It will probably help Apple in its ongoing battle with Spotify, the leader in the music flow area with 83 million paid subscribers worldwide.
This is just one of the latest collaborations we have seen come from the relationship between Apple and Amazon. The Prime Video streaming app arrived on Apple TV about a year ago, allowing Prime members to stream video on Apple's set-top box. The two companies have also expanded an agreement to sell more Apple products on Amazon, including iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.
