Earlier this month, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. It also showed new bands for its smartwatch series, including the Solo Loop with one continuous track.
Unfortunately, it was reported earlier this week that if a customer bought a Solo Loop or Braided Solo Loop and the band did not fit, they had to return the entire watch. Considering that the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE have been reorganized, in some cases in November, it was not the best situation. Especially for people who got the watch so soon after launch.
Now, MacRumors reports that Apple has decided to reverse the course of the original plan. Now, if someone ordered Solo Loop and / or Braided Solo Loop with Apple Watch Series 6 / SE and it does not fit, they will be able to return just the band.
We managed to start an online band change without having to return the Apple Watch this morning, something we were unable to do yesterday, which indicated that the policy change took place today. Customers can return the ill-fitted tape and will receive a new one when the old one is received.
Eli Hodapp, CEO of GameClub, was one of the first to raise questions about the original return / exchange policy for Solo Loop. Hodapp confirmed on Twitter today that Apple has actually turned the course of the case on Twitter:
Currently on the phone with Apple Support. They replace my band and prioritize replacements, so they come faster than the store shows. They even let me order a third ribbon to try to return, just keep the size between 6, 7 and 8 which fits best.

Jon Prosser also confirmed the change on Twitter:
Update to this:
You can now return your Solo Loop bands without having to return the entire Watch.
Just call Apple – if this is your first Apple Watch order, they will send you a replacement Sport Band (traditional style) in Surf Blue or Cactus colors. pic.twitter.com/JtJmxnMXZp

Apple still offers in-store band exchanges for straps that do not fit properly. However, with some Apple Stores still closed, and many people not living near a physical retail site, the use of online tools was the only option. But returning the Apple Watch in its entirety, and not just the band, was not helpful at all.
It’s good to see that Apple has changed course and now offers a more useful alternative.
Did you get a Solo Loop or Braided Solo Loop? If so, have you had a size issue?
