Apple will launch watchOS 7 later this year. Before that, beta versions of the software are needed to prepare developers for what’s to come.
As such, it is a brand new beta version of the smartwatch operating system. On Tuesday, Apple released the seventh beta version of watchOS 7 to developers. As is in line with the course, this new pre-release software may not have any new features in the mix. If it does, we’ll update this post accordingly and tell you what Apple added to this beta.
As far as the software itself? watchOS 7 adds quite a bit to the mix. It is the new handwashing function, which will detect and track the user when they wash their hands for 20 seconds. Apple added the ability to quickly and easily split dials as well. Of course, there are also new dials in general. With watchOS 7, sleep tracking is possible with the Apple Watch. There are new workouts to track with the workout app, general improvements to Siri and more.
To update, developers need to make sure the Apple Watch has at least 50% battery life. The smartwatch must also be connected to the charger and to the iPhone. The latest beta is available for download and installation now.
