It is reported in India that Apple has taken four of its "lower priced" iPhones from India shelves, which include the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus. The new entry point iPhone in India becomes the iPhone 6s currently selling for 29,500 Rupees (US $ 429) – once lower iPhone models are sold out. IPhones are already sold out on Amazon India.
The report further noted that Apple reduced the number of distributors in India from five to two to clear arbitrary discounts to strengthen the brand's premium.
A leading trading partner of Apple claims that Apple does not want Apple India to chase volume by discounting at the expense of profit. Models being phased out will increase the average sales price of iPhones in India and increase both profits and revenue.
Finally, the report notes that Apple will for the first time locate its upcoming IOS 1
