I look at find creation dates for 2040. Also, Finn windows do not remember default values I set.

Probably a waste of time posted this, but who knows it. Very frustrated, with OS stability. Just arrived at Mojave last week.

Probably your watch was out when the files were created. DiskWarrior or TTP can reset them to the current date – but only if you use HFS +. They are not yet ready for APFS.

I've found Mojave to be stable, but the finest MacOS yet. Some of it is because I run it on a marginally supported machine. But that only explains some of the problems.

Creation date usually does not break anything. If they are your own files, you can make a copy. Then remove the original. If there are system files, leave them as-is. Fooling with them is not worth the trouble.
