I wrote to Bombich.com to ask if there was a better progress view when you cloned.
The problem is this: when you back up (cloning) many small files, progress is not useful when it comes to gigabytes copied, so it is not clear how far along it is, which means that it will be unclear how long will take (progress bar is not accurate in such cases).
1. Exit Carbon Copy Cloner and paste the following into a terminal window (press the return button when done).
default settings enter com.bombich.ccc showDetailedTransferStats -bool YES
2. If done correctly, the value must be read as "1" with this command:
default settings read com.bombich.ccc showDetailedTransferStats
As shown, you see these commands (things in blue are what was entered). [1
diglloyd-iMac: MPG lloyd $ default settings read com.bombich.ccc showDetailedTransferStats
This setting shows the progress of files compared, files copied and gigabytes copied. This is much more useful when you get a sense of how far it is. I am not sure why this is not standard or why the option is not in the Preferences dialog.
