Hope someone can help here. I have had a problem trying to copy files to an external drive, any external drive. If I try to copy more than one file, I quickly run into a problem and when I do one by one, I get stuck in a random file.
It manifests itself in three ways:
1: A message window appears "prepares to copy", and nothing happens for a long time. I get annoyed and force a restart. I read that it is trying to index the files, but we're talking about as few as 10 small files and not a computer from 1994.
2: Copying seems to start (one or more files), but stuck to zero. The file sizes seem irrelevant.
3: Copying starts but goes reeeeeeealy slowly. A 1
I've spent the last 4 hours online and trying to figure out what to do and two things came up. A kind of Sudo trick that did nothing or copying through the terminal. 3 of the 4 hours were just trying to figure out how to use the copy command in hell and I still don't know how.
This is what I've come up with so far: "cp -r / Users / OttoSilver / Desktop / Temp / Volumes / ExternalDriveName / Temp"
I'm trying to copy from my internal drive to an external drive. Everything in a single folder for everything in a similar named folder. I want to move files around the external disk after copying, as this does not cause any problems, understandable.
