GoPro has long been the king of the action camera market, but the crown is being challenged. DJI on Wednesday introduced Osmo Action, a small action camera that has a killer function GoPro does not: a front-front display, making it much easier to capture selfie videos.
Otherwise, DJI's small new action camera looks much like the GoPro Hero7 Black, and it offers many of the same features, including image stabilization, 4K video at 60fps and 8x slow motion. Both cameras are also waterproof, with Osmo Action protected down to a depth of 11 meters.
DJI Osmo Action stands out for some reason: it's $ 349, while Hero7 Black is $ 400. Osmo Action also offers a front-facing color display that lets you easily store selfie photos, making the camera perfect for vlogging. DJI's action cam also cuts 4K HDR video while Hero7 Black does not, and it supports a variety of filters that can be screwed onto the camera body.

There's a lot to like about Osmo Handling, especially the front-facing display. If you do not currently own a camera, there is really no reason to download Hero7 Black over Osmo Action unless you really want to pay more money.
DJI has been in the action sports game with drones and gimbals, but never has the company so blatantly gone after GoPro. Osmo Action is a big step towards further establishment of DJI's premiere playing in the action sports market.
DJI Osmo Action is available now from DJI for $ 350.

DJI's new Osmo Action is basically a better GoPro Hero7 Black, thanks to its colored front angle. It can shoot 4K video at 60fps and supports various shooting modes, including timeouts and slow motion. If you want to enter the action cam market, Osmo Action is a good option.
