Apple has officially launched iOS 12.2 beta 3 in the development community with support for all compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch hardware. Effectively immediately, all registered developers can access and start putting this latest release through their steps.
iOS 12.2 should be a worthwhile update for anyone who loves to consume their news in a centralized feed, especially in Canada. Apple uses this latest major release to bring Apple News to device owners in Canada and will offer the experience in English and French.
This latest firmware update also provides support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit in selected third-party smart TVs, which means iOS 12.2 users can open their home application on the iPhone or iPad and get instant and fast control of new smart TVs.
Apple has also hung some design love on the remote control in the Control Center with the intention of making it look fresher, more usable, and giving the user much more space to interact and mimic TV controls. A similar update and tweaking process has also been used on the native Wallet app, and it also provides a new interface for Apple Cash functionality. IOS 12.2 also benefits from a selection of new icons in specific areas of the firmware, as well as some notable improvements to the native Safari browser.
And of course, who could forget about the introduction of four great new Animoji characters introduced with the release of iOS 12.2 beta 2, as well as the great solution to the gruesome Group FaceTime error that has recently plagued Apple.
This latest beta 3 version of iOS 12.2 is currently available to registered iOS developers to download, either as an IPSW link, by navigating to developer.apple.com or go through an over-the-air download process on compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices from Settings> General> Software Update .
These devices must have the correct beta version profile installed. If you're a developer and involved in testing new Apple software, be sure to grab the update as soon as it's humanly possible to put iOS 12.2 beta 3 through its steps and feedback some key issues or issues directly to Apple.
