First, when you switch to DuckDuck's dark theme, Apple Maps now automatically switches to a dark look.
DuckDuckGo has also added a dedicated Map tab at the top of each search results page. Previously, this shortcut was only shown for map-related searches, but it now appears for any searches. For example, if you searched for "cupcakes", the Maps tab can display local bakeries that sell them.
While each new map-related search previously required to return to the default DuckDuckGo search page after completion, a search field has now been added that allows users to refine local searches immediately.
Lastly, intelligent auto completion within the expanded map view. Updating or writing new searches will now show you dynamic search suggestions tailored to the local region being displayed. For example, when writing "coffee", search suggestions related to coffee will appear in the map area in view.
These improvements are now available on both desktop and mobile versions of DuckDuckGo.com.
DuckDuckGo does not collect or share any personal information from DuckDuckGo users, a policy that extends to Apple Maps integration. Identifiable information such as IP addresses is not provided to Apple, and for searches where approximate position is aggregated by the browser, it is discarded immediately after it is used.
