Effective MacOS / IOS custom map rendering framework (Spritekit or Raw Metal)? : iOSProgramming

Hello general question here, my goal is to provide marine (as in nautical) maps. See the picture below as a reference. I've researched some of the different Apple frames to see what's best. My data entry is actually a series of arrays where each child's array represents a cartographic function (think an island or boat bridge). I started w / Core Graphics, as it has a very simple API, but it's performance poor (it took> 100ms for a single layer of data when I can expect 10-20 layers on average).

Who brings me to my question: would SpriteKit be an effective framework for dealing with this workload? My preference is to avoid learning Metal, but if fellows recommend this approach, I will invest the time. SpriteKit seems to be able to handle this. I will probably work with a few thousand to a few hundred thousand points / points at a time. I don't need any complex animations as the map is static in terms of display. Some entrances appreciated!
