I never thought cables played a role, especially digital cables. So I went to walmart and got some generic "high speed HDMI with ethernet" cables to run from the Sony TV to the Marantz NR1710 and connect to the Apple TV 4K. Well, when I did, it would not pass the dolby atmos test, and I constantly got crackling from my speakers every time the recordings were to change from one ATV app to another.
Then I got these cables and all my problems went away:
they are expensive. They are rated at 8k, but they work, for whatever reason.
