Late yesterday afternoon it was reported that the Federal Trade Commission approved a $ 5 billion deal with Facebook over its 2018 Cambridge Analytica scandal. The fine represents the largest that the FTC has imposed on a technical company.
Republican Congress David Cicilline called the settlement no more than "a blow to the wrist. This fine is a fraction of Facebook's annual revenue. It will not make them think twice about their responsibility to protect user data." [1
