I've been an iOS dev for a very long time, but I've never done any UI work except UIKit. I am currently working on a hobby app and experimenting with having interesting dynamic animations as a background.
Think of OS X flurry screensaver for example.
How do you go about doing something like that on iOS? What do I choose – SpriteKit / SceneKit / Metal / OpenGL or a third-party engine?
Is there a good reference / blog etc that goes through creating something like this? Most guides for the technologies above are about creating games. I just want to focus on the shady part of it.
