Hide.me has added more new features to users of the Mac app. These include split tunneling, a proprietary Stealth Guard feature and the ability to automatically connect to VPN when using specific networks.
The blog post on the Hide.ms site tells us that the changes were introduced "
While the appearance of the Mac app remains the same, the new features will make it easier for people to customize their security features. The auto-connect feature helps users on the go, who will ensure they are always connected to the VPN when using public WiFi.
The new Stealth Guard feature works the same way as a kill switch, with added peace of mind: instead of cutting access to an app when the connection falls, users with Stealth Guard asset will not be able to open programs that they have designated as just for use with a VPN. This provides an additional layer of security for users who want the ability to kill the switch.
Split tunneling allows users to route some of the traffic outside the secure VPN tunnel while still connected to Hide.me VPN. This can be useful for users who need to maintain the fastest possible internet connection for any purpose while remaining secure elsewhere. It will also help business users who want to use the office's network printer while browsing the Internet safely.
Hide.me is one of several VPNs to offer a custom MacOS app, and also has native VPN apps for Microsoft Windows, Android, and iOS among others.
