How a smartwatch saved a man's life

More and more, you see that people have watches while Apple Watch is among the most popular. It's a great device, and certainly far more than your average clock.

Not only does it tell you but it can run many of your favorite apps, manage text messages, and even help with phone calls. It can also track your movements and exercise.

There is another thing it can do, and it is more important than any of it. As a man recently found out, Apple Watch can also save a life.

Well, at least you can tell when there is a problem

The story centers around Mike Love, a 24-year-old from Australia. He did not know that there was any problem before his Apple Watch began to notify him of any heart rate abnormalities.

Love told 9News that his sleeping heart rate was average between 1

30 and 140 beats per minute. For reference is a healthy resting heart rate of around 60 beats per minute.

Knowing that, Love went to see a doctor confirming that he had heart abnormality. In particular, he had a hole in his heart, one that had been there since birth and was dangerous. Not only that, but his upper lung pump also pumped into the wrong atrium in his heart.

As the cardiotherapist of love explained, the blood was unnecessarily circulating around the lung and did not reach the rest of the body.

Love had the problem corrected and was home again not long after the operation. Love, who said he is studying robotics at school, added that he did not think he would go without an Apple Watch again.

Apple Watches Has Been Used To Many People

This is not the first time of an Apple Watch's possibly saved someone's life. Back in May we learned about a Tampa Bay teenager who was notified of a problem at the time.

In that case, it was learned that adrenal glands failed due to chronic renal disease. Nobody knew she suffered from it until the clock led a visit to a driveway.

And in another case, Apple Watch may have helped solve a murder. Yes, you read it correctly.
