How to sync music and podcasts to Apple Watch from iPhone



If you're new to Apple Watch or just have not listened to music directly on your laptop, read on how to sync music and podcasts to Apple Watch from iPhone.

Apple Watch can act as a remote control to control music playback on iPhone, but it can also store and play music and podcasts directly to headphones or speakers.

Whether you want to listen to your favorite music or podcast during training or other activity, you can sync content with Apple Watch from iPhone. We are watching music first and then tackle podcasts.

How to sync music and podcasts to Apple Watch from iPhone

Music

  1. Open Watch app on iPhone
  2. Swipe down and press Music
  3. Under "PLAYLISTS & ALBUMS" press Add music …
  4. Make your choice
  5. Add Apple Watch on the charger
  6. Your music will sync with a status bar shown in the iPhone Watch app

At the top of the screen you will see a status as the new content is added to Apple Watch (see below in the third picture).

Then on Apple See, go to the Music app, swipe or use Digital Crown to find the music you've added.

Select a previous paired speaker or headphone, or choose to connect a new device. You know that the content plays directly from Apple Watch with the icon next to See that appears at the top left as shown above.

Podcasts

Note: Podcasts functionality on Apple Watch requires watchOS 5 Open Podcasts on Apple Watch

  • Select the podcast you want to listen to
  • Choose where you want the sound to be play or connect a new device
  •  sync music and podcasts to Apple Watch

    You can also sweep down to reveal what's on Apple Watch, and watch your library.

    Go to the Watch app on iPhone to customize your Podcasts settings for Apple Watch.
