Modern websites have a legitimate reason to push a lot of data to your browser as it retains for future sessions. This can vary from a web browser "cookie" that keeps a short time to other identifiers and even databases that are pulled up, but only when you visit the site again.
This can snowball into "cruft" a catchall term for digital code you don't want. In particular, I see a problem with it in Safari, and have a way to troubleshoot and fix.
You see that something is wrong is when you visit a website you use routinely and get a weird mistake. You try to close windows, quit your browser, even start Macing again, and the problem persists. For example, my credit card site will throw up a server error that says my headers are too long and malformed. Thank you very much, but my headers are just fine!
You can check if saved webpage data is the problem by opening a private browser button in Safari ( File > New Private Window ), visiting the site and logging in. Private browser windows do not send stored information, cookies or anything else, and only retain site-specific details as long as the tab in the private browser window remains open. If you start another browser, you can also check, such as Chrome or Firefox.
If the site loads fine in private web browsing or another web browser, the problem is probably stored data. Safari lets you clean data on a domain name domain:
- In Safari, select Safari > Settings .
- Click Privacy button
- Click Manage Site Data .
- In the search box at the top right, enter part or the entire domain of the site. It is best to provide the least amount of information. So if the domain is
bank.combut they have
loans.bank.comyou just enter
- Select the matching items, click Remove All and confirm the removal. This only removes locally stored information, not material from the remote site.
- Close the settings dialog and log in again.
(Note in step 4 that you have to wait a while for the data to load if you are a heavy browser. For me, on many occasions, the list never fills – it just says "Loading web page data" indefinitely. must close the dialog box and reopen it, sometimes repeat this operation several times before the list appears.)
If after step 6 the site still does not work, but you could use a private browser window or another browser. It is time to contact the Technical Assistance website.
