iOS app economy creates 300,000 new jobs in the US as developers adapt during a pandemic

The iOS app economy has created nearly 300,000 new jobs since April 2019, and helped provide opportunities for Americans of all ages, although COVID-19 continues to create enormous challenges and insecurities for communities across the country. Developers nationwide – including companies such as Caribu, HEB and Shine – have adapted their businesses to ensure that they can continue to support their customers in a challenging time.1

Since the App Store launched in 2008, the iOS app economy has become one of the fastest growing sectors in the economy. Despite the pandemic, the App Store continues to offer financial opportunities for entrepreneurs of all sizes, helping anyone with an idea to reach customers around the world and take advantage of new opportunities that would never be possible without it. The App Store ecosystem now supports more than 2.1

million U.S. jobs in all 50 states – a 15 percent increase since last year – as part of Apple’s 2.7 million jobs across the country.
