Keynote Screen Match? There’s a button to fix it



Almost everything about Keynote is good to great. Apple created a version of the software originally for Steve Jobs’ presentations, and effectively rolled it out to all Mac users. It reflects his aesthetics and those of Apple. But it’s an attitude that I’ve seen people pray for – and if you’re looking for an answer, you’re unlikely to find it because of the way you have to phrase the question!

Three years ago I was on aficionados of woodcuts gathering on the shores of Lake Michigan, when my friend and mentor Jenny had a crisis with her presentation. Despite the help of an expert A / V manager, in Keynote’s presentation mode, they could only have the slideshow section displayed on her laptop while the presenter̵

A single click solves the problem, but Keynote almost hides the answer, because some buttons on the host’s screen disappear unless the mouse has recently been tripped.

If your presentation is active on a dual monitor (laptop plus projector or dual monitor system), via Play> Play Slideshow, the “other” screen displays a series of tools for a presenter. Move the mouse to the upper right corner and the buttons will appear. Wait a minute and they’m gone again.

These buttons from left to right are to show / hide keyboard shortcuts, customize presenter view, change screen, and end slide show.

Click the third button – change the display – and the slide show and the presenter switches screenshots. It’s so easy, but so hard to find! The next time you see someone struggling to put their tools on the right screen, you can whip out that bit of wisdom and help the show move on!
