Latest macOS Office Insider Preview Build brings new features to Outlook



Microsoft released Office for Mac (Insider Fast builds) version 16.41 (20082600, 20083005, 20090201) August 26, 31 and September 2, 2020. The company has now highlighted all the new features and bug fixes that come with the latest macOS Office Insider Preview Builds. The updates do not include any known issues. New features

  • Search: see contact details by clicking the button directly in search suggestions

  • Message list: quickly run a search for all messages in a specified filter, including unread, flagged and attached, by clicking the option directly at the bottom of the list

Bug fixes

  • E-mail: the nested writing window no longer remains open for certain messages after sending
  • Contacts: Double-clicking a contact in the list now opens the newly selected contact
  • Search: Keyboard focus is maintained when the “Search In” drop-down menu in Advanced Search is rejected
  • Search: enhanced VoiceOver announcements for “Add more options” in advanced search
  • Main window: Sidebar at the top of the View menu now appears as highlighted when the sidebar expands
  • Search: left and right arrow keys continue to function as the search is typed
  • Email: after installing the app update, the default account will now be selected at launch
  • Current Outlook | macOS Big Sur: fixed various cases where the text was cut out
  • Rules: rules can now be created and saved
  • Calendar: Meetings for Google Accounts can be canceled from the popover event
  • Main window: expanding or hiding the sidebar only updates the selected main window
  • Contacts: several selected contacts can now be categorized (via the toolbar and menu options)
  • Write: “Some pictures in this message were not downloaded” The information bar no longer appears when writing new messages with “Download pictures automatically from the Internet” set to Never
  • Administrator management capability: AutomaticallyDownloadExternalContent preference, which manages the “Automatic download of images from the Internet” setting, now appears as disabled when managed

To update to the latest Office Insider Preview Build, open any Office program and go to File> Account> Update Options> Update Now.
