Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, the architect of the far-reaching Marvel Cinematic Universe, held his first Reddit AMA (ask me something). This gave fans the opportunity to put their minds behind Marvel movies some of their most burning issues, such as asking about the future of MCU.
Feige did not go as far as answering that question unfortunately, but his AMA was filled with other wonderful answers that really pulled back the veil of MCU. We've known about some of the story for a while, but there were some answers that were really sincere. For example, he first understood how successful the MCU franchise could be with the opening weekend of the first Avengers. That, if you do not remember, broke all sorts of records at that time, this crazy continuous universe realized the idea that the studio could work. And it did.
He also opened other things like the planning of MCU. He confirmed that a five-year plan has been published at all times, but often it goes far beyond that. That means Marvel Studios already knows the movies it will solve in 2024, if not anymore, they just choose not to tell us.
Some of the toughest obstacles that came up were throwing radical ideas like doing Captain America: The First
Here are some of his answers to other questions.
How early was the plot of Infinity War / Endgame scheduled for? ?
We started discussing how we adapt the Infinity Gauntlet comic shortly after the release of the first Avengers. It was at one of our creative retreats about 5 years ago that we decided to do it as two films. We began to crack down on the history of civil war production with Chris Markus and Stephen McFeely, Joe and Anthony Russo, in a conference room that we went back and forth.
Do you have any creative regrets with MCU?
I once made a joke about counting the dying Chris Hemsworth eyebrows blonde to the first Thor, but the truth is that it is all in these movies and all the little details: the perfect and not so perfect that led us to the experience by Endgame. Therefore, I would not change anything.
Did Stan Lee See Avengers: Endgame?
Stan loved to wait to see the final movie at the premiere, so unfortunately he didn't see the finished movie. Stan got a download of the whole story the day he came and shot his cameo.
Who are some who are not yet to appear in the MCU you are itching to introduce?
Who is your favorite Marvel character who is not in the current MCU?
I never play favorites, but there are many wonderful characters that I have loved for many years, which are on their way to MCU soon, but I can't be more specific than that. Sorry!
How much will Disney + show vive into the movies?
One of the best moments in the AMA came when Feige confirmed that his favorite MCU meme is Tony Stark's eye roll. Also the version of the Hulk we see in Avengers: Endgame is known as the "Smart Hulk", not Professor Hulk, many of whom refer to him, given his connection to the specific cartoon story.
We were not surprised, but Feige did not get into detail about phase 4 for MCU. He was very cryptic at this point and just said that Marvel will release information soon enough. It's disappointing, but we understand why he has to keep things close to his chest.
