Stephen O’Grady (via Hacker News):
Fragmentation makes it impossible for suppliers to supply the necessary components for a fully integrated tool chain. However, this does not change the reality that developers are forced to borrow time from writing code and redirect it towards dealing with the problems associated with very complex, multifactor developer tool chains that are held together in places by duct tape and press wire. This is the developer experience gap. The same market that offers developers any primitive infrastructure they may want, tells them at the same time that gathering them is a developer’s problem.
