After the US has pulled down on Chinese technology companies, Google has cut Huawei's Android license, which is a big blow to the besieged phonemaker. Reuters first reported the news, and The Verge then confirmed Google's suspension of business with Huawei with a source familiar with the case.[…]
Speaking to Reuters A Google spokesperson confirmed that "Google Play and Google Play Protect security protection will continue to work on existing Huawei devices." So while existing Huawei phones around the world are not immediately affected by the decision, the future of updates for them phones as well as new phones Huawei would produce remnants.
Huawei is almost the world's largest smartphone provider. Their exclusion from licensed Android and fork away from Google is the biggest news in smartphones since, well, Android.
