Mojave 10.14.6 Additional Update Provides Some EFI Updates – The Eclectic Light Company

Yesterday's surprising additional update for macOS Mojave 10.14.6 brings EFI firmware updates for four MacBook Pro models, which were probably the ones affected by the bug that caused a core panic when trying to wake up from sleep.

updated models are:

  • MacBookPro13,2: updated to 259.71.1.0.0
  • MacBookPro13,3: updated to 259.71.1.0.0
  • MacBookPro14,2: updated to 198.71.1.0.0 [19659004] MacBookPro14, 3: Updated to 198.71.1.0.0.

I updated the current EFI firmware version table to reflect these changes, and my GitHub data was used by SilentKnight and silnite .

If you have a MacBook Pro 1

3-inch 2016 or 2017 with four Thunderbolt ports, or a MacBook Pro 15-inch 2016 or 2017 model, and have delayed the use of the 10.14.6 update because of this issue , it should now be safe to do so. Other Mac models do not appear to have been affected by it, though Apple has apparently updated the kernel a bit in the additional update, which may solve other problems.

As far as I can see, Apple has still not released any confirmation of this issue, nor any security release notes for it.

(Thanks to Robert Blair for paying attention to this firmware update.)
