Mortal Kombat is a battle series containing the iconic duo of warriors that many of us are familiar with : Sub-Zero and Scorpion, along with others like Raiden, Sonya Blade, and more. In the MK11 you will find many back faces from former Mortal Kombat games, even those that were only introduced in Mortal Kombat X, which was the last Mortal Kombat game.

There will be two new characters introduced in MK11 also: Geras and Kronika.

Geras is a playable fighter who uses time control so he can stop and rewind the time he wants. Other attacks are collecting objects made of stone and sand, and teleporting with that power to capture enemies.

It turns out that Geras fights in the service of Kronika, the second new character. Apparently, Kronika has been running the show ever since the very first Mortal Kombat game, but she only reveals herself because of the story in Mortal Kombat X. It is not yet confirmed whether Kronika is a playable fighter, but she is the game's first female big bad .

Currently, MK11 will have a first list of 25 playable characters. There is also Shao Kahn, which is only a character that can be achieved by pre-ordering the game.

History and synopsis

The story behind MK11 is a bit complicated because, well, time travels. We all know how time travel affects virtually everything, not true

MK11 is not a direct sequel to MKX, even though it was the previous game. Instead, MK11 takes place after the events of MK9, because Kronika spent her time and reality-bending forces to turn things up, as you do. But the events that occur in the MKX are still relevant in one way or another.

Shinnok, the greatest villain of MKX, is tortured by an evil Raiden, who was destroyed by dark magic after he absorbed Jinsei, which is Earthrealm's vitality. Raiden hates Shinnok, but keeps him alive somehow. Chronicle is emerging and approaching Shinnok, and then reveals that everything goes according to their own plans.

NetherRealm introduces a few changes to the fighting game mechanics. Instead of just having a meter for movements like Breaker, moving X-ray and improved attacks, it's now two feet in the lower right and left corners. The horizontal line is reserved for offensive motion, with the vertical for defense.

Fatal Blows replaces X-ray movements. Fatal Blows are only available when players' health is below 30 percent. With a Fatal Blow, you can unleash a nasty combination on your opponent by pressing two shoulder buttons simultaneously. Fatal Blow can only be used once per game (not round), so you must be wise at the time of it. But if the fatal blow does not connect, the move goes to a long cooling period before you can try again.

Crushing blows are also added, which is a graphic feature similar to X-ray attacks. These are triggered by fulfilling certain criteria, such as doing the same move three times in a row. Each character has about five to six moves that can evolve into a crushing blow, making crazy injuries and getting enemies in the air or getting enemies to stand up straight away.

Finally, Flawless Block is added. When performing a perfectly time-limited block, you get a short window for a counter attack.

These new game mechanics add many new opportunities, including some interesting high-risk high-reward prizes.

Another aspect that you can customize to your taste is "Cosmetics", which includes things like character skin, movie intrusions, victory screens, deaths, brutalities, taunts and more. Even computer-controlled opponents can tinkered to suit you, because AI Behavior is also customizable.
