When I started iOSdev it was iPhone 5 / se or iPhone 6 or iPhone 6+. Now it is:
- iPhone SE 2020/8 4 ”7
- iPhone 12 mini 5.4 ”
- iPhone 8+ 5.5 ”
- iPhone XS / 11 for 5.8 ”
- iPhone 11/12 / XR / 12 for 6.1 ”
- iPhone XS Max / 11 Pro Max 6.5 ”
- iPhone 12 pro max 6.7 ”
I was already struggling to make my app look good on the three screen sizes, but now I have to deal with twice as much. Yes, I know autolayout does exist, but for non-simple monitors it is still not perfect. As if you are still testing it on each screen size, to see if it works properly, the views are readable / non-overlapping or too much space between them.
I think Apple is going more and more towards devs. Releases iOS the next day after keynote without GM. Xcode that continues to provide. Wrong unfortunately. Proper user interface components.
I always thought that android was the one that was fragmented, some things worked differently, apps had to be made almost specifically for selected models, because every other phone had a different resolution / screen size. It̵
