In September last year, OnePlus revealed its plans to enter the TV market with a "premium" offer that will be released sometime in 2019. Now it looks like the company is finally nearing a formal reveal TV line up. The folks at MySmartPrice have discovered several lists of "1+ LED TVs" on the Bluetooth SIG website.
The Bluetooth SIG entries reveal Android-based OnePlus TV will be available in four screen sizes – 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch. Following the model numbers of the various TVs certified by Bluetooth SIG, OnePlus will launch its Smart TV in Asian markets in the first place, focusing on China and India.
The 43-inch model will only be sold in India, while the 75-inch model will be available in China. Aside from the 75-inch model, OnePlus will also release 55-inch and 65-inch models. All OnePlus TVs listed on the Bluetooth SIG website are described as having a "unique Android TV" experience, so it looks like OnePlus will add its own add-ons to the interface.
Google has not yet allowed manufacturers to change or customize Android TV, it is not clear what is so unique about OnePlus TV. Only companies categorized as an operator are allowed to customize Android TV, and OnePlus is unlikely to qualify as one.
In addition to telling us that OnePlus TVs will run on the Android TV platform and come in four screen sizes, Bluetooth SIG entries will also confirm Bluetooth 5.0 support on all models. Since OnePlus has already confirmed that it will target the "premium" segment, we can expect the company's Smart TVs to have 4K panels, HDR support and perhaps a few AI-powered features as well.
