I'm always looking for macOS tools that improve the way I use my computer every day, and I'm always excited to find an app that saves time, adds efficiency, or simplifies using my Mac. PopClip, Pilotmoon Software's $ 9.99 program that generates a minimally invasive pop-up menu that appears when selecting text is one such tool.

] PopClip active displays a small, elegant pop-up window when you select text ( Figure B ).
Depending on the options you specify, you can choose to create the entire selected text uppercase with a single click , look up the highlighted selection in the dictionary, or convert Markdown text to HTML. Extensions are available for all of the following actions, among others:
- Format Enhancement
- Place quotes
- Enter in parentheses
- Capitalize specified text using typical spelling conventions
- Search the selected string within one of many different browsers or translators
- Create new notes, Stickies or OneNote entries

How to configure PopClip?
How you choose to configure PopClip is up to you, but the process itself is straightforward. Just download the extension from the PopClip page, click the blue OK button that appears on the screen (provided the PopClip is active) to enable the extension, and start using the corresponding action when selecting text.
If you change the actions you want to use when text is highlighted, adjusting the settings is easy. Click the PopClip icon from the MacOS Menu bar and click the expansion icon to adjust active actions. You can also click the gear icon to change the size of the pop-up menu, or select the excluded icon to set apps from which the PopClip operation will be disabled.
How did you work without PopClip?
Just like Swiss Army Knives and Handy Multi Tools usually become favorites among their owners, so do such programs as well. PopClip is useful and similar to many tools that need to be seen and used to really appreciate. As Magnet, which allows quick resizing and moving of active windows, PopClip is one of those apps that, if you take a few moments to install it, end up spending several times throughout the day wondering how you lived without it. For less than $ 10, I found PopClip a gamble worth taking, and I'm glad I made the effort.
