It has been about a month since hacker and unc0ver leading developer Pwn20wnd released unc0ver v3.0.1 to the public, and there have been no subsequent updates to the jailbreak tool page. But it's about changing.
As we reported last week, Pwn20wnd plans to provide a significant update for unc0ver with a host of bug fixes and stability enhancements. At that time, we knew very little about the upcoming update; but Pwn20wnd has been a little vocal as of late on what to expect:
With reference to a series of Tweets shared by Pwn20wnd last week, has we can expect the next version of unc0ver to include each of the following changes:
- Make resprings instantaneously
- Instantly make uicache
- Solve all known iOS 12-centric stability issues
- Include the brand new Unrestrict ] Add migration support for other jailbreaks
- Solve the corrupted versions of RBS and hidden support
- Resolve an iMessage audio crash
- Solve jailbreak apps that appear on the home screen after using rootfs recovery Solve all known reliability issues with jailbreak tweak loading on iOS 12
- Solve stability issues in the Camera app
- And more …
Pwn20wnd has taken its time to ensure a stable jailbr eak experience for everyone. In one of his Tweets, he reveals that he has tested and validated the upcoming version of unc0ver on all versions of iOS from 11.0-12.1.2.
As this afternoon, Pwn20wnd shared the final touches with the new unc0ver and that it is currently undergoing internal testing. The latest ETA for the release is "within a few days", provided nothing comes up during testing:
Unc0ver is the only common jailbreak with natives support for Cydia at the time of this writing, and while not yet having full A12 (X) support, only because of Saurik's inability to update Cydia Substrate for these phones, Pwn20wnd will add A12 (X) support as replacement in the future.
Meanwhile, unc0ver v3.0.1 is the latest version of the unc0ver jailbreak tool available. If you need it, it can be downloaded from Pwn20wnd's official Github site.
If you are excited about the upcoming update, keep up to date. We want to be sure to keep you informed as we learn more about progress and release.
