I had already recommended the UD-CAM USB-C dock from Plugable, partly because it was so compact, so I wasn't sure what the benefit of the UD-CUBE ($ 79.95) would be sent me an assessment unit. As small as the original model was, roughly the size of an Apple TV, this new model is even smaller. It's about the size of the jewelry box for the wedding ring.

Despite its remarkably compact footprint, it still squeezes in three USB-A ports, including a USB 3.0 port, plus an HDMI port, and a wired Gigabit Ethernet port. Around the base of the unit is attractive blue accent lighting, and the bottom has a rubbery non-slip grip.
However, there are some holes, compared to the UD-CAM mode. It delivers just 15 watts, so it can't reliably charge a laptop. You will use your laptop's original USB-C charging cable and adapter on a separate USB-C port. There is also no audio port, although audio is delivered via HDMI.

If you want a lot of expandability in a small footprint, you can check the cube from the pluggable. Just bring your original charger.
