Review: Power Bar Wireless Charging Bank by Eggtronic

Eggtronic always makes stylish devices and Power Bar ($ 149.99) the company sent me to try is no exception. Power Bar is a 10,000 mAh battery pack in a rounded rectangular brick with a glossy white exterior that looks like an early iPod or the actual packaging that came with my original Apple Watch. Apart from the glossy white surface, the only brands are the Eggtronic logo and two “Qi”

; logos indicating the two fast-charging 7.5-watt wireless pads that are a highlight of this device. These can be used for iPhones, Android phones or AirPods that support Qi. Like most Qi portable chargers, you have to press a button to activate it, otherwise it will draw some power all the time, and eventually run out.

At one end is an Apple Watch 5-watt charging plate built into the Power Bar. You can place the Apple Watch on the pad and it starts charging, but a nice option is the ability to raise the pad about half an inch to support your watch. You may need to use a fingernail or credit card to lift the riser. Unfortunately, if you use a loop-style tape, you will need to wrap the watch around the Power Bar, which may make it a little unstable. It is not a deal-breaker, but an inclined or rotating cushion may have been a nice option and it will support bedside mode.

In addition, there is a USB-C port that outputs 30 watts via power supply. The same port is used to charge the device itself, and the company includes both a well-made USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to lightning cable. You will need to get your own USB-C to A / C adapter, but you probably have one of them if you are looking for a USB-C battery pack. The cables can be used to charge an iPad, iPad Pro or MacBook. Just keep in mind that 30 watts will slowly charge a laptop and may not provide enough power to charge while the computer is in use.

Benefits

  • Elegant Apple-like styling
  • 10,000 mAh power
  • Apple Watch charging plate that can rise in height
  • Two fast-charging Qi pads
  • 30-watt USB-C port for power supply
  • Includes well-made USB-C to lightning and USB-C to USB-C cables

Disadvantages

  • Apple Watch charging plate rises but does not rotate, so best for watch straps that lie flat against loop straps
  • USB-C to A / C adapter sold separately
  • Qi pads are a bit close together, so two large / wide phones may not fit

Final verdict

Power Bar from Eggtronic is an elegant companion for travelers with multiple Qi devices such as the Apple Watch and more.
