Review: Protect your Alexa privacy with Smartē Mute +

One of my favorite things to look for at the Consumer Electronics Show is items that may not be electronic, but help make the use of electronic products better. In this case, Smart Smarts Life Smartē Mute + ($ 24.99) from My Smartē Life electronics, but it is designed to give you privacy from the now ubiquitous Amazon Echo Dot and other Echo devices. It's like a style cone. You just drop it on top of your Echo unit. It fits all versions of Amazon Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Dot. You turn it on and it creates its own white noise that effectively dampens the microphones. It acts as noise-canceling headphones. It's not just a plastic hood!

Well, you can only disconnect a smart speaker, but then remember to plug it in again when you need it and it won't start immediately. If you just want to discuss something private, temporarily, Mute + can be activated with a timer, in steps of up to an hour, and of course you can physically remove it only from the top of the echo.
