Retailers are preparing for the release of new Apple products this fall by making placeholder spaces available in their weekly ads. This week, Target mistakenly published its weekly ad that contains placeholder references to the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6. The ad also makes room for a “new” iPhone release, although it is not actually an exception this week.
The Target ad simply refers to a “new iPhone” along with instructions that a Target marketer will complete the setup of the ad following Apple’s announcement. The photos and text still refer to Apple’s iPhone 11 series of smartphones, and there is also room left for iPhone 12 cases.

The target ad also makes room for the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6 announcement. The ad simply refers to the Apple Watch Series 6 GPS and Apple Watch Series 6 GPS + Cellular “starting at X99.99.” Again, Target has no advanced knowledge of Apple’s announcements, and therefore the price information is unknown and the images are still from the Apple Watch Series 5.
