  Best AirPods Options

When Apple launched the original AirPods in late 2016, the market took the market by storm. They worked seamlessly with other Apple products and were a notable step over other Bluetooth earbuds in the market. Fast forward to 2019 and the market is filled with truly wireless earbuds that are better than AirPods in many ways.

Apple launched second-generation AirPods earlier this year with some significant improvements, but compared to the competition, the new AirPods lacks key features such as improved sound quality, water resistance and active noise cancellation. With AirPods you get a comfortable level that no other wireless earbuds on the market can offer. However, if you are ready to give up that convenience factor, you have many other options to look at. Listed below are some of the notable AirPods options available in the market.

Best AirPods Options

Sony WF-1000XM3

Sony's recently launched WF-1000XM3 is easily among the best wireless earbuds on the market. Not exactly cheap for $ 229, they offer excellent sound quality and even have active noise cancellation. The fit is also better than the AirPods, with Sony offering a range of ear tips to ensure you find the perfect seal.

One problem with the Sony WF-1000XM3 is that it lacks any kind of water or sweat resistance like the AirPods.

Battery life is pretty decent too, and the earphones can last for about 6 hours at medium volume level with active noise cancellation. When the ANC is turned off, the battery life jumps by 2 hours to 8 hours.

One problem with Sony's offerings is that they are not as discreet to use as AirPods or other wireless earbuds. But I guess that's the price you have to pay for the improved sound quality and the active noise reduction.

The carrying case is also a bit on the bulkier side, but it can charge the earbuds three times. In addition, they have a USB-C port and support fast charging, so a 10-minute charge is enough for the earbuds to last another 1.5 hours.

Pros :

  • Active noise cancellation [19659014] Excellent sound quality
  • High battery life
  • USB-C connection
  • Fast charging
  • Several different ear tips

  • Expensive
  • Not as discrete as AirPods
  • No volume control
  • No wireless charging
  • No voice assistant integration

Jabra Elite Active 65t

  Jabra Elite Active 65t

Jabra offers two variants of its wireless buds: Active Elite 65t and Elite 65t. The former is a better buy in my opinion due to some design advantages, although the sound quality offered by the two models is the same.

The Jabra Elite Active 65t lacks active noise cancellation, but they make up for it by offering passive noise cancellation with a very tight fit in the ear. However, some may find this tight fit a little too uncomfortable after a few hours. Jabra gathers three different sizes of ear tips to help you find the perfect fit.

If you had not already guessed from their name, the Elite Active 65t has an IP55 certification which means they are splash and dust resistant. Active even has a special rubber coating for secure fit and finish.

When it comes to battery life, the Elite Active 65h can last up to 5-6 hours on a single charge. The carrying case is good enough to charge the earbuds twice more. There is also quick charge support and a 15-minute charger will be enough to last them for 1.5 hours.

An important feature of the Elite Active 65t is that each earpiece packs two microphones, which means it offers excellent voice quality. ] The ear plugs also pack an accelerometer that is used for step counting, but it has limited use case.

Pros :

  • IP55 Sweat and dust resistance
  • Better sound quality than AirPods
  • Excellent microphone quality
  • Fast charging support

Disadvantages active noise reduction

  • No wireless charging
  • No voice assistant integration

    Bose SoundSport Free

      Bose SoundSport Free

SoundSport Free is basically the wireless version of the regular SoundSport. They have decent sound quality despite not having any active noise cancellation. The design is also pretty good, although the earhooks mean they're not as discreet as AirPods. They have a safer finish than AirPods, which means you don't have to worry about falling out of any kind of activity.

Battery life is good enough for around 5 hours of use, with the included carrying case good enough to charge the earbuds twice. There is no quick charge support here which is a bummer.

SoundSport Free was buggy when it was first launched, but recent updates from Bose have improved overall audio and video performance. In addition, it also has a nice price cut which makes it a pretty tempting deal.

One problem with SoundSport Free is that during calls, it only works as a mono earpiece with the sound from the right earpiece. [19659008] Pros :

    • Superior sound quality than AirPods
    • Water resistant

    Cons :

    • Design not as discreet as AirPods
    • No active noise reduction
    • Charging
    • No Fast Charging

    Beats Powerbeats Pro

Ironically, one of the best AirPods options comes from Apple itself. Beats PowerBeats Pro may not have the design as discreet as AirPods, but they make up for it by offering excellent sound quality, better battery life and sweat resistance. In addition, since the PowerBeats Pro ship with Apple's H1 chip, offers the same level of convenience as AirPods, including always on "Hey Siri" detection and excellent battery life.

It lacks active noise cancellation and wireless charging. The charging case is also extremely bulky and may not fit in everyone's pocket. The price will also be another matter as PowerBeats Pro is significantly more expensive than AirPods.

You can find out about all the differences between AirPods 2 and Powerbeats Pro in this comparison.

    Pros :

    • Sweat resistant
    • Excellent battery life
    • Always detect "Hey Siri"
    • Excellent sound quality

    Cons [194559013]:

    • carrier case
    • No wireless charging
    • No active noise reduction
    • Expensive

    Samsung Galaxy Buds

      Galaxy Buds "width =" 598 "height =" 458 [19659078] Galaxy Buds "width =" 598 "height =" 458

Samsung Galaxy Buds are a great alternative to AirPods provided you are ready to live with a few compromises. They have a discreet design like the AirPods and offer decent sound quality and battery life. Even the charging case is compact and easy to carry, and it has wireless charging support.

The touch control on Galaxy Buds can be a bit nice, although Samsung has rolled out several updates to improve it.

One issue with Galaxy Buds is that some of the features will only be available to Android users. That's because there is no iOS app for Buds, which means iPhone users will not have access to features such as equalizer presets and ambient noise control.

Galaxy Buds may not be perfect, but the value-for-money relationship is hard to beat.

    19659008] Pros :

    • Discreet design
    • High battery life
    • Wireless charging support

    Cons :

    • No Active Noise Cancelation [19659014iOSapp
    • Value for money
