watchOS 7 includes the new ‘Family Setup’ feature

Apple has recently unveiled ‘Family Setup’ a new feature that is part of the upcoming watchOS 7.

Family Setup allows older relatives, children and others to use the Apple Watch without the need for an iPhone. It is currently only compatible with Apple Watch SE and Series 4 models or later, and those with mobile features.

Primary users set up the feature on an Apple Watch using the iPhone, where activity reports and features are managed.

Apple has also unveiled the ‘Apple Cash Family’, where parents can send money to their children’s Apple Watch. The digital money can then be used where Apple Pay is accepted.

In the description, Apple says that alerts about the child̵

7;s expenses can be viewed directly on the iPhone and supports up to five family members. Furthermore, parental control can be set if necessary.

Other Family Setup features include downtime and school time, child-centric activity rings, automatic emergency calls, fall detection and more.
