What can happen if I do not send the annual self-classification report to the US Government? : iOSProgramming

As soon as you use a single HTTPS call in your app, you use encryption covered by export regulations, and you have to submit the annual self-classification report. I noticed that I forgot to do this. Does it matter? Can I be fined as a non-citizen, or can it hurt my chances when I apply for a visa in the United States?

Apparently this is not a problem for all developers, or no one uses HTTPS. There is not much information on the internet on this topic.
