Wx, the venerable weather app, has been reinvented! Wx displays current conditions, forecasts, warnings and radar for US locations using high quality XML data from the US National Weather Service. The app is designed for two specific types of customers: serious weather monitors who want detailed information and facts without fuss, and informal users who want a fast, clean and functional weather app. Under the hood, the Wx has all new download and processing engines, and is faster than ever. It is more reliable than ever and offers multiple levels of redundancy to handle severe weather events that can burden NWS servers.
With Wx, you can set up locations on a built-in map, and guide you to select nearby NWS observation sites (over 1[ads1],700 available in the U.S. and its territories), nearby NEXRAD radar sites, and nearby city and county-based alert zones. The app sets up a 7-day summary “point” forecast tailored to the specific latitude and longitude of the site, and a 7-day “pro” forecast that graphs temperature (actual and apparent), dew point, relative humidity, cloud cover, wind speed, wind direction, gusts, 12-hour probability of precipitation, 6-hour liquid rainfall and 6-hour snowfall. Wx’s pro forecast is also based on latitude / longitude, and is about as good as it gets if you need to plan work, sports and outdoor activities based on upcoming weather. With their high spatial resolution, point and pro forecasts are particularly useful in coastal and mountain areas where typical zone forecasts may be inaccurate. These forecasts are backed up by a regional text alert bulletin for further information.
Wx also lets you bookmark and set up weather maps for quick reference. Choose from over 40 standard NWS maps and images, or enter the URL for the map you want and load it into the app! If you prefer weather providers or use a private weather service, you can load your favorite maps and photos directly into Wx and keep them handy. Other features of the Wx include displaying weather conditions in the dock icon, seven days of sun and moon phase information, and a high-performance radar screen with seven types of radar on a zoomable live map.Version 7.1:
- Thank you to all our great customers who have used Wx for over 15 years! This update includes a number of minor fixes and UI fixes for newer versions of macOS. It includes revised NWS map URLs. We fixed a map error to improve panning to adjacent radars during animations. The radar map style is now saved as a preference.
- OS X 10.9 or later
